After the natural but traumatic, long and stressful birth of her first child, Rowan was soon to realise that there must be an easier and more relaxed way to give birth.
Tensing your muscles, holding your breath and being scared is exhausting and not the best start for you or your baby!
Rowan trained in HypnoBirthing® and is also a HypnoBirthing® mummy and can say first hand that HypnoBirthing® really works. Her second birth was a beautifully calm, relaxed, home water birth.
HypnoBirthing® is a complete birth education programme, that teaches simple but specific self hypnosis, relaxation and breathing techniques for a better birth.
HypnoBirthing® is much more than just self hypnosis or hypnotherapy for childbirth.
With HypnoBirthing®, you'll discover that severe pain does not have to be an accompaniment of labour.
You'll learn how to release the fears and anxieties you may currently have about giving birth, and how to overcome previous traumatic births.
HypnoBirthing® lets you discover and experience the joy and magic of birth - rather than the horrific ordeal everyone else seems hell-bent on telling you about.
Most importantly, you'll learn how to put yourself back in control of your birth - rather than blindly turning your birthing experience over to your doctor or midwife.
HypnoBirthing® doesn't mean you'll be in a trance or a sleep. Rather, you'll be able to chat, and be and in good spirits - totally relaxed, but fully in control. You'll always be aware of what is happening to you, and around you.
HypnoBirthing® doesn't require any particular belief system, or prior experience. Some of the mums (and especially their partners) have been very sceptical at first - until they experience it for themselves.
HypnoBirthing® allows you to experience birth in an atmosphere of calm relaxation, free of the fear and tension that prevents the birthing muscles of your body from functioning as Nature intended them to.

How HypnoBirthing® Works
HypnoBirthing® is designed as a structured but informal class format that teaches about the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of birth. You'll learn why your body does what it does, as well as how. |

What You Will Learn
- The positive belief that giving birth can be the most wonderful experience a woman ever has
- To look forward optimistically to a gentle, safe, calm, comfortable and stress-free birth
- How to release any fears that may in some way be associated with childbirth, and thus avoid the ‘Fear-Tension-Pain Syndrome’.
- How to relax deeply and quickly using breathing techniques, visualization and self-hypnosis.
- How to stay calm, relaxed and in control throughout your labour
- How to produce endorphins - your own natural, pain reducing ‘morphine’ - so that you can reduce or avoid the need for drugs or epidurals
- How to trust your body to work naturally and in harmony with your baby
- How to condition and tone your perineum to help avoid episiotomy or damage to the pelvic floor
- How to use natural methods to help start labour after the ‘estimated due date’, for induction, or if the labour stalls
- How to prepare a birth plan so that you can be better informed and in control of the birthing procedure
- Positions to help you birth your baby more easily and comfortably
- How to breathe correctly and avoid ‘panting’ that can lead to hyper-ventilation
- Relaxation exercises, visualizations and breathing techniques to help your cervix open more gently and often in a shorter time, as you remain calm Consequently, the first stage of labour is often shorter by several hours, so that you and your baby are less fatigued
- Breathing techniques that work with your body to maximise your body’s own natural expulsive reflex, so you may birth your baby more gently, rather than using violent ‘pushing’ which is exhausting and less effective
